〆Container Ship Owned by Japanese Shipowner and Bulk Carrier Collide in Vietnam, Fuel Oil Spills.
A major maritime accident occurred on the Long Tau River near Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, on the night of April 25, when the Panama-flagged container ship “KMTC Surabaya” (built in 2018, 2,806 TEU, owned by a Japanese shipowner) collided with the Hong Kong-flagged bulk carrier “Glengyle” (built in 2015, 36,679 dwt, operated by Uni-Ships and Management). While no injuries have been reported, both vessels sustained serious damage, and oil leaking from the Glengyle has spread across the surrounding waters, raising environmental concerns. Local authorities are currently carrying out emergency measures.
