Deadly Blast at Iran’s Largest Container Terminal Sends Shockwaves Across Bandar Abbas

At Iran’s largest container terminal, Shahid Rajaee Port, a container loaded with hazardous chemicals exploded in the early hours of 26 April 2025 local time. According to local authorities, four deaths have been confirmed, and more than 500 people have been injured. The shockwave extended over a 50-kilometre radius, causing widespread damage, including shattered windows in surrounding buildings.

〆速報：イランの国際物流の要衝、経済・安全保障両面で「最重要港湾」で大規模爆発　4人死亡、負傷500人超

　イラン最大規模のコンテナターミナル、シャヒード・ラジャイー港で現地時間の2025年4月26日未明、危険化学物質を積載したコンテナが爆発した。地元当局によると、これまでに4人の死亡が確認され、負傷者は500人を超えた。衝撃波は半径50キロメートルに及び、周辺の建物の窓ガラスが割れるなど、広範な被害が出ている。

　爆発は港内のシーナ・コンテナヤードで発生。現地メディアは、ナトリウム過塩素酸塩などの可燃性化学物質の不適切な保管が原因とみられると報じた。国営テレビは「危険物の取り扱いに対する注意義務違反があった」と伝えており、過去に安全検査官が現場に警告を発していた経緯も明らかになっている。
