NS United Kaiun Group Hosts Press Reception – President Yamanaka Emphasises Advancing Together with Stakeholders in an Era of VUCA

NSユナイテッド海運グループ、プレス懇親会を開催。山中（Yamanaka）社長「VUCA（ブーカ）」の時代、情報発信でステークホルダーとともに前進する。

On the evening of 29 May, NS United Kaiun Kaisha Group held a “Press Reception” at the Nippon Life Marunouchi Garden Tower in Marunouchi, Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo.

Opening the event, President, President Executive Officer and Representative Director Kazuma Yamanaka referred to the current global climate as “VUCA”. The acronym VUCA stands for Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity, a term originating in the United States in the 1980s and commonly used when discussing leadership, strategy, and organisational management.

President Yamanaka characterised the current environment surrounding the shipping industry as “VUCA”, stating: “Leadership is of course important, but in these rapidly changing times, I believe it is essential to move forward together with stakeholders—such as shareholders, business partners, and employees—who are involved in company management.”

Specifically, he added: “We disseminate information, and the media receives it. Then, the media connects this information to the shipping industry in a more efficient way, thereby improving customer satisfaction. I believe this is how we can contribute to the maritime sector. I think this is what truly matters.”

　NSユナイテッド海運株式会社（NS United Kaiun Kaisha）グループは5月29日夕、東京都千代田区丸の内の日本生命丸の内ガーデンタワーで「NSユナイテッド海運グループ プレス懇親会」を開催した。

　冒頭、挨拶に立った山中一馬（Kazuma Yamanaka）代表取締役社長(President, President Executive Officer,Representative Director）は、現在の国際情勢を「VUCA（ブーカ）」と表現。VUCAは、Volatility（変動性）、Uncertainty（不確実性）、Complexity（複雑性）、Ambiguity（曖昧性）の頭文字を取ったもので、1980年代に米国で使われ始め、リーダーシップや戦略、組織運営などを語る際によく用いられる。

　山中社長は、現在の海運業界を取り巻く環境を「VUCA」と捉え、「リーダーシップも必要だが、環境変化の激しい時代にあっては、私はステークホルダー（株主や取引先、従業員など会社経営に関わる企業や人々）とともに進んでいくことが重要だと考えている」と指摘。

具体的には、「我々が情報を発信し、メディアが我々の発する情報を受信する。そしてその情報をメディアがより効率的な方法で海運に結び付け、顧客の満足度を向上させていただく。我々としてこういう方法で海運業界に貢献していけるのではないか、こういうことが重要なのだと思う」と述べた。
