Bridge Marine Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) is a ship brokerage firm specialising in the sale and purchase of bulk carriers. It was founded by Lu Hoferik, the company’s president and representative director, who came to Japan from the Czech Republic in 1998. From 2001 to 2017, Hoferik worked in the S&P team at Exeno Yamamizu Corporation, where he built an extensive network leveraging his fluent Japanese. In October 2017, he established Bridge Marine. We spoke with Mr. Hoferik about the motivations behind the founding of the company and the direction he envisions as a Japan-based ship broker.

　株式会社ブリッジ・マリン（BRIDGE MARINE、東京都千代田区）は、1998年にチェコ共和国から来日したルー・ホフェリク（Lu Hoferik）代表取締役社長が設立した、バルカーの売買仲介を主業とするシップ・ブローカーである。ホフェリク氏は2001年から2017年までエクセノヤマミズ社の売買船チームで勤務し、流暢な日本語を駆使して幅広い人脈を構築。2017年10月にはブリッジ・マリンを創業した。同氏に、創業の背景や、日本に根差したシップ・ブローカーとしての目指すべき方向について聞いた。
