〆Thank you, Imabari – you made it unforgettable! ／今治の皆様、ありがとうございました！

I arrived at Matsuyama Airport on Sunday night and spent Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday visiting over ten shipowners and trading companies in the Imabari region.

While the term “Japanese shipowners” encompasses both large and mid-sized owners, there are significant differences between those based in the Imabari area and those in the Namikata and Hakatajima districts.

Despite these distinctions, I had the opportunity to discuss many unique challenges shared across the industry. These include Japan’s distinctive systems such as the “special depreciation system for ships,” the “tax deferral system,”

communication challenges between shipowners and ship management companies, and the handling of lightship inspections.

The insights gathered during these visits will be compiled into an article, which I plan to publish soon on Maritime Bridge Japan. Please stay tuned for its release.

Though my visit only lasted one day, I had the chance to engage with several leading manufacturers of maritime equipment at the Bari-ship exhibition. Today, I return to Tokyo, where I will resume meetings with overseas shipping companies currently visiting Japan.

私は今週の日曜日の夜に松山空港に到着し、月曜日、火曜日、水曜日と今治地区の船主、商社を10社以上、訪問させていただきました。

　日本船主と一口に言っても大手船主と中規模船主、今治地区以外の波方（Namikata）地区、伯方島（Hakatajima）地区と大きく異なります。

　それでも日本独特の制度である「船舶の特別償却制度」「税金の繰り延べ制度」「船主と船舶管理会社とのコミュニケーションの課題」「ライトシップインスペクション（Lightship inspection）への対応」など多くの課題を共有していただきました。

　今回の取材したことについては近日中に記事にしますので、是非、Maritime Bridge Japanでの掲載にご期待ください。

　初日だけですが、本日もバリシツブでの展示会では多くの優れた舶用機器のメーカーの方々と交流させていただきました。本日、東京に戻り再び明日から来日中の海外船社の方々とミーティングさせていただきます。
