Takaya Soga, President of Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK), appeared on Nikkei CNBC’s Morning Express segment “Top Interview” at 9:45 a.m. on 5 September, where he outlined NYK’s policy on shareholder returns and its approach to growth investment.

Key Points of the Interview
→ President Soga explained the decision to raise the dividend payout ratio to 40% and to double the minimum dividend amount to 200 yen. Backed by ample cash flow, NYK will also actively conduct share buybacks. “In order to give shareholders the confidence to invest in us, we want to enhance predictability regarding investment in NYK,” he emphasised.

→ On growth investment, he presented a future vision of supporting the company with “the two wheels of stable growth and challenge” through acquisitions such as NYK Energy Ocean and a European healthcare logistics company, as well as a renewal of the cruise business.
