Norwegian ship management major Wilhelmsen Ship Management (WSM) held a press conference on 26 September at the Tokyo Marriott Hotel in Shinagawa, Tokyo, where President and CEO Haakon Lenz outlined the company’s business strategy.

Key points of the announcement

→ Ship management is a vital business that involves assigning and managing captains, chief engineers, and officers to vessels actually in operation.

→ WSM currently manages around 330 vessels worldwide, employing approximately 13,000 seafarers and close to 1,000 shore-based staff. On the company’s fleet target, CEO Lenz stated, “We aim to expand the managed fleet to 400–450 vessels by 2030,” presenting the outlook for the business strategy.
