The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) announced on 26 October that the Singapore-flagged container ship WAN HAI A17 (13,100 TEU-class), operated by Taiwan’s Wan Hai Lines, collided with the Chinese-flagged general cargo vessel HAI LI 5 off the coast of Guangzhou, China.

Key points of the incident

→ The collision occurred at around 8 p.m. (Singapore time) on 25 October. According to the MPA, all 23 crew members on board the WAN HAI A17 escaped injury, and no marine pollution has been reported.

→ The Chinese-flagged cargo ship HAI LI 5 suffered severe damage. Its hull listed rapidly after the collision and subsequently sank. Of the 15 crew members, 13 were rescued, while two remain missing. China’s Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) continues search operations in the waters near Guangzhou.

　シンガポール海事港湾庁（Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore：MPA）は10月26日、台湾のワンハイラインズ（Wan Hai Lines）が運航するシンガポール籍コンテナ船「WAN HAI A17」（1万3100TEU型）と中国籍の一般貨物船「HAI LI 5」が中国・広州沖で衝突したと発表した。

この記事のポイント

→事故は25日午後8時（シンガポール時間）頃に発生。MPAは、乗組員23名に負傷者はなく、海上汚染も確認されていないと明らかにした。

→一方で被害が大きかったのは中国籍の一般貨物船「HAI LI 5」である。船体は衝突後に急速に傾斜し沈没した。乗組員15名のうち13名は救助されたが、2名が依然行方不明。中国の海上捜索救助センター（MRCC）は、広州近海で捜索を継続している。
