The governments of Japan and the United States signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) on 28 October to promote comprehensive collaboration in the shipbuilding sector.

Key Points of the Agreement

→ The memorandum was signed between Japan’s Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, Yasuyuki Kaneko, and U.S. Secretary of Commerce, Howard Ratnick. It establishes a broad framework focusing on expanding shipbuilding capacity, promoting investment in maritime industrial infrastructure, developing skilled human resources, and advancing technological innovation.
→ Under the memorandum, a new “Japan–U.S. Shipbuilding Working Group” will be established to hold concrete discussions on the modernisation of shipyards and the joint development of next-generation shipbuilding technologies.

　日本と米国の両政府は10月28日、造船分野における包括的協力を推進するための協力覚書（MOC）を締結した。
