Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi announced on 4 November, during the first meeting of the government’s Japan Growth Strategy Headquarters, that a new national growth strategy will be formulated by the summer of 2026. Within the framework of 17 designated strategic sectors, “shipbuilding” was placed in the second-highest position, following “AI and semiconductors.”
