Expectations for the revival of “Shipbuilding Nippon” are rising by the day. At the same time, what challenges must now be overcome? This series focuses on three themes: “Japanese shipowners placing orders with Chinese shipyards,” “the shortage of workers in shipyards,” and “whether the revival of LNG carrier construction is possible.” The first instalment examines “persistent orders by Japanese shipowners for Chinese shipbuilding, trading houses acting as intermediaries, and financing by regional banks.”
