MOL said on the 19th that Jotaro Tamura, 57, senior executive officer, will assume the post of president and executive officer with effect from April 1, 2026. Takeshi Hashimoto, 68, the current president, will become representative director and chairman of the board. Hisashi Umemura and Kazuya Hamazaki, both senior executive officers, will each be promoted to vice president.

Hashimoto, who took office as president and representative director on April 1, 2021, judged that investment commensurate with the increase in shareholders’ equity was necessary. He implemented an investment plan totalling 2 trillion yen, including the ownership and operation of tank terminals, the acquisition of LBC Tank Terminals, and the construction of cruise ships, thereby creating a management base that does not leave performance exposed solely to shipping market conditions. Tamura, who will succeed Hashimoto, will now aim to nurture the businesses invested in during the first phase of the medium term management plan and to capture their earnings.

A press conference will be held later today from 3 pm at Toranomon Hills Station Tower in Toranomon, Minato Ward, Tokyo.

　商船三井は19日、2026年4月1日付で田村城太郎（Jotaro Tamura）専務執行役員（57）が社長執行役員に就任する人事を発表した。橋本剛（Takeshi Hashimoto）社長（68）は取締役会長に就任する。副社長には梅村尚（Hisashi Umemura）専務、濱崎和也（Kazuya Hamazaki）専務がそれぞれ昇格する。

2021年4月1日に代表取締役社長に就任した橋本氏は、自己資本の増加に見合った投資が必要と判断。タンクターミナルの保有、運営会社LBC Tank Terminalsの買収や客船の建造など総額2兆円の投資計画を実行し、海運市況だけに業績がさらされない経営の原資を作った。橋本氏を引き継ぐ田村氏は今後、中期経営計画の第1フェーズで投資した事業の育成、収益の取り込みを目指す。

　記者会見はこの後、午後3時から東京都港区虎ノ門の虎ノ門ヒルズステーションタワーで開催される。
