“Japanese ships built in Japan” shared as guiding principle, tax extensions to underpin shipbuilding revival

「日本の船は日本でつくる」共有、税制延長で造船再生を後押し

The Japan Shipowners’ Association and the Shipbuilders’ Association of Japan on 6 January held a New Year reception at the Kaiun Building in Hirakawa-cho, Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo.

Hitoshi Nagasawa, Chairman of the Japan Shipowners’ Association (Chairman of NYK), Yasushi Kaneko, Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, and Yukito Higaki, Chairman of the Shipbuilders’ Association of Japan (President of Imabari Shipbuilding), delivered addresses in which they shared the recognition that shipping and shipbuilding constitute core industries for economic security, and reaffirmed the policy principle of “Japanese ships built in Japan”.

They also confirmed a policy of advancing the revival of shipbuilding through coordinated public–private efforts, including shipbuilding support measures and the extension of tax incentives such as the special depreciation scheme for oceangoing vessels and replacement tax relief.

 日本船主協会と日本造船工業会は6日、東京都千代田区平河町の海運ビルで新年賀詞交換会を開催した。
