Asuka III Carries Out Japan’s First LNG Bunkering for a Cruise Ship at Port of Yokohama

「飛鳥Ⅲ」、国内クルーズ船で初のLNGバンカリング　横浜港で実施

Japan’s NYK Group-led cruise operator, NYK Cruises, has successfully completed LNG (liquefied natural gas) bunkering operations for its newly built cruise ship Asuka III at the Port of Yokohama. Conducted between June 10 and 11 at the Osanbashi International Passenger Terminal, the LNG supply was carried out using the “truck-to-ship” method, where LNG was delivered via tank lorries directly to the vessel. This marks the first-ever LNG bunkering of a cruise ship in Japan. The operation represents a symbolic step towards decarbonised cruise operations in the country, ahead of Asuka III’s official entry into service on July 20.

「飛鳥Ⅲ」、国内クルーズ船で初のLNGバンカリング　横浜港で実施

日本郵船グループの郵船クルーズが建造した新造客船「飛鳥Ⅲ」に対し、LNG（液化天然ガス）燃料の供給が横浜港で実施された。6月10日から11日にかけて、横浜港大さん橋国際客船ターミナルにて、タンクローリーを用いた「Truck to Ship方式」によりLNGを供給したもので、国内でクルーズ船にLNGを供給するのは初の事例となる。7月20日の「飛鳥Ⅲ」就航を前に、日本の脱炭素クルーズ運航に向けた象徴的な一歩となった。
