In early July 2025, shortly after the cargo ship Magic Seas was attacked in the Red Sea, another incident occurred on the 7th when the Liberia-flagged bulk carrier Eternity C (IMO No. 9588249, 36,830 DWT, built in 2012 by Hyundai Mipo Dockyard, South Korea) came under assault off the coast of Yemen. The attack resulted in the deaths of three crew members, marking a grave escalation.
The Houthis’ definition of “Israel-linked vessels” has expanded to include not only those owned by Israeli firms or flying Israeli flags, but also vessels affiliated with related corporate groups and fleets operated under the same umbrella—making it a notably broad concept.
