Lars H. Barstad, CEO of Frontline Management AS / Frontline PLC, which owns and operates the world’s largest crude oil tanker fleet, responded to an email inquiry from Maritime Bridge Japan on the evening of June 16 (Japan time), outlining the company’s current operational policy regarding the risks in the Strait of Hormuz.

Regarding risk assessments for transiting the Strait, Mr. Barstad stated: “Tensions are rising, but at this time, no specific hostile acts against international shipping have been confirmed. Frontline will continue to monitor the situation closely and respond accordingly.” He also clarified a portion of remarks attributed to him in an article published by the Financial Times on June 14.

“The quote by the Financial Times was not entirely accurate. What I actually said was that ‘only a very limited number of shipowners, including Frontline, are willing to commit to new charter contracts into the Arabian Gulf (AG),’ and that remains true as of June 14,” he explained.

　世界最大の原油タンカー船隊を保有・運航するフロントライン（Frontline Management AS／Frontline PLC）のCEO、ラース・H・バースタッド（Lars Barstad）氏は日本時間6月16日夕、Maritime Bridge Japanの電子メール取材に応じ、今後のホルムズ海峡リスクに関する同社の運航方針について回答した。

　ホルムズ海峡の通航におけるリスク評価について、バースタッド氏は「緊張は高まっているが、現時点で国際海運に対する具体的な敵対行為は確認されていない。フロントラインとしても情勢を注視しながら対応していく」と述べた。一方、6月14日に英フィナンシャル・タイムズに掲載された自身の発言について、一部訂正した。
