Marine electronics manufacturer Furuno Electric (headquartered in Nishinomiya, Hyogo Prefecture) announced on the 20th that a demonstration vessel under the Nippon Foundation-led autonomous ship project “MEGURI2040” passed the nationally mandated ship inspection on December 5, 2025, and will begin commercial operations using automated navigation functions (equivalent to Level 4 autonomous driving) on a scheduled route carrying general passengers.

　舶用電子機器メーカーの古野電気（Furuno Electric、本社・兵庫県西宮市）は20日、日本財団が推進する無人運航船プロジェクト「MEGURI2040」の実証船が2025年12月5日付で国の定める船舶検査に合格し、一般旅客が乗船する定期航路において自動運航機能（自動運転レベル4相当）を活用した商用運航を開始すると発表した。
