Furuno Electric (FURUNO ELECTRIC, headquartered in Nishinomiya, Hyogo) has announced that it will pre-install autonomous navigation technology—developed through its participation in the autonomous ship project “MEGURI2040”—on a new pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) ordered by NYK and scheduled for delivery in March 2026.

→ The system to be installed is an autonomous navigation package centred on a “collision-avoidance navigation support system”, incorporating advanced functions such as sensor data integration, collision-risk assessment, and automated planning and control of optimal avoidance routes.

→ The installation of this autonomous navigation system is expected to become a significant early example supporting next-generation safe operations in both domestic and international shipping, where crew shortages and the reduction of human error are increasingly critical.

　古野電気（FURUNO ELECTRIC、本社・兵庫県西宮市）はこのほど、日本郵船が2026年3月の竣工予定で発注した新造自動車専用船（PCTC）に対し、同社が開発に参画している無人運航船プロジェクト「MEGURI2040」で実証を重ねてきた自律航行技術を先行搭載すると発表した。

→搭載されるのは「避航操船支援システム」を中心とする自律航行システムで、センサーデータ統合、衝突リスク評価、最適避航計画の自動立案・制御といった高度な機能を備える。
