Insurers Say No Change in War Risk Exclusion Zones

Tensions in the Middle East have been escalating since Israel launched attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities and other sites on 13 June. By 16 June, NYK Line and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) had responded to inquiries from Maritime Bridge Japan (MBJ). NYK stated: “Operations remain normal at this stage, but we have issued alerts to our vessels, instructing them to prioritise the safety of crew members and ensure navigational safety, in light of the heightened tensions in the Strait of Hormuz.”

MOL similarly commented: “As of 12 June, we had already called for increased vigilance on vessels operating not only in the Middle East but also in other regions. We refrain from disclosing the number of tankers currently deployed in the Middle East, but we continue to place top priority on the safety of our seafarers.”

As of 16 June, several foreign marine insurers told MBJ that “no changes have been made to existing exclusion zones at this time.”

　イスラエルがイランの核施設などを攻撃した6月13日以降、中東の緊張が高まっている。日本郵船と商船三井は6月16日までにMaritime Bridge Japan（MBJ）の取材に対し、日本郵船は「現時点では通常の運航体制だが、（現在のホルムズ海峡の緊張感の高まりを前提に）乗組員の安全を最優先にし、運航の安全を確保するよう本船に注意喚起している」と回答した。

　商船三井も「6月12日の時点で既に中東周辺や他の地域の運航船について注意喚起を呼び掛けた。現時点で中東地域に配船しているタンカーの隻数などについては差し控えるが、当社としても船員の安全確保を最優先に検討を続けている」とした。

　6月16日時点で、複数の外資系船舶保険会社はMBJの取材に対し、「現状、除外水域の設定には変更はない」と回答している。
