Itochu orders world’s first ammonia bunkering vessel. Sasaki Shipbuilding to begin trials in Singapore from 2027

伊藤忠、世界初の新造アンモニアバンカリング船を発注 佐々木造船、27年からシンガポールで実証開始

Itochu Corporation has embarked on the construction of the world’s first ammonia bunkering vessel (a fuel supply ship for ammonia). The company has placed an order with Sasaki Shipbuilding for a 5,000m³-class ammonia bunkering vessel, with its Singaporean subsidiary entering into a financing agreement with Hiroshima Bank,, (see full text for details).

→ Itochu has signed a construction contract with Izumi Steel Works, Japan’s largest manufacturer of marine LPG tanks, for the production of an ammonia tank plant.
→ The ammonia bunkering vessel, to be registered under the Singaporean flag, is scheduled for completion in September 2027.
