On 16 October 2025, the 31st JECK Shipbuilding Summit, hosted by the Japan Shipbuilders’ Association, brought together senior executives from the shipbuilding industries of Japan, Europe, China, and South Korea at the Imabari Kokusai Hotel in Ehime Prefecture.

Key Points of the Article

→ The summit took place shortly before Yukito Higaki, Chairman of the Japan Shipbuilders’ Association and President of Imabari Shipbuilding, was scheduled to brief the ruling Liberal Democratic Party’s internal committee on a ¥350 billion investment support scheme aimed at doubling Japan’s shipbuilding capacity. The timing marked a symbolic turning point linking government policy with on-site industrial realities.

→ In his keynote address, Chairman Higaki stated, “Demand for new-fuel ships is expected to expand in the coming years. Japan’s maritime industry must seize this opportunity by accelerating research and development and enhancing shipbuilding systems through digital technologies.”

政策支援と産業連携の節目に　檜垣会長「新燃料船需要に応える体制を整備」

　2025年10月16日、日本造船工業会の主催で日本、欧州、中国、韓国の造船業界首脳が一堂に会する「JECK造船首脳会議（第31回）」が、愛媛県今治市の今治国際ホテルで開催された。

この記事のポイント

→同会議は、檜垣幸人（日本造船工業会会長、今治造船社長）が23日に自民党の関連部会で「日本の造船能力倍増に向けた3,500億円支援構想」を説明する直前に行われたもので、政策と産業現場の接点を象徴する節目となった。

→檜垣会長は基調講演で「今後、新燃料船の需要拡大が期待される。我が国の海事産業はこの需要の機会を逃さぬよう、研究開発を加速し、デジタル技術を活用した建造体制の整備を進めている」と述べた。
