Aiming to strengthen the presence of marine equipment in the Middle East newbuilding market

中東の新造船市場で舶用機器の存在感強化へ

In early December, the Japan Marine Equipment Association (JSMEA) visited International Maritime Industries (IMI), the world’s largest shipyard newly established in eastern Saudi Arabia, with a delegation of 30 participants from 15 member companies, conducting product promotion activities and exchanges of views.

Key points of this article

→ Through the international expansion of Japanese marine equipment, JSMEA is promoting the collection of information on new technologies and the development of new markets, with the aim of contributing to the global maritime industry not only in the field of conventional merchant shipping but also across offshore sectors.

→ The visit formed part of this initiative and, through direct dialogue with IMI—which is looking ahead to the construction of tankers, VLCCs, offshore support vessels and rigs—it provided an opportunity to highlight on site the competitiveness of Japanese-made marine equipment.

　日本舶用工業会（JSMEA）は12月上旬、サウジアラビア東部に新設された世界最大の造船所、International Maritime Industries（IMI）を会員企業15社・30名で訪問し、製品PRおよび意見交換を実施した。

この記事のポイント

→JSMEAは、我が国舶用機器の国際展開を通じ、一般商船にとどまらずオフショア分野を含む世界の海事産業への貢献を目指し、新技術の情報収集と新規市場開拓を進めている。

→今回の訪問はその一環であり、将来的にタンカーやVLCC、オフショア支援船、リグなどの建造を視野に入れるIMIとの直接対話を通じ、日本製舶用機器の競争力を現地に訴求する機会となった。
