K Line Enters FSIU Business in Earnest

On 17 June, Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (K Line) announced that it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding through its London-based subsidiary, “K” LINE ENERGY SHIPPING (UK) LIMITED (KLES), with Malaysian offshore energy company Yinson Holdings Berhad’s core marine infrastructure arm, Yinson Production, for the joint development of a Floating Storage and Injection Unit (FSIU) for liquefied CO₂ and a liquefied CO₂ carrier.

The initiative is intended to support the Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) projects progressing mainly in Europe. By offering a new offshore solution for storage and injection, the companies aim to contribute to the development of infrastructure for a decarbonised society.

川崎汽船は6月17日、子会社“K” LINE ENERGY SHIPPING (UK) LIMITED(KLES)を通じて、マレーシアの海洋エネルギー企業Yinson Holdings Berhadの海洋インフラ中核企業Yinson Productionと、浮体式液化CO₂貯蔵・圧入ユニット(FSIU)、液化CO₂輸送船の共同開発に向けた覚書を締結した。
