On July 30, 2025, a massive earthquake with a magnitude of 8.8 struck off the coast of Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula, prompting tsunami warnings along the Pacific coastline. In Bechevinskaya Bay in the Russian Far East, close to the epicentre, is moored the floating LNG storage facility “KORYAK (Koryak) FSU” (IMO 9915105), built by Novatek, Russia’s leading independent gas company. Key points of this article

→ After the earthquake, no abnormality was observed in KORYAK FSU’s AIS (Automatic Identification System) signals or positional data, and no structural damage has been reported as of this writing. Maritime Bridge Japan attempted to contact NOVATEK’s investor relations department by telephone, but communication with the local site remains unavailable.

→ The facility serves as a strategic hub for transhipping LNG transported from the Arctic to Asia and functions as the eastern end of the Northern Sea Route. As long-term contracts between Japanese power and gas companies and Sakhalin-2 are scheduled to expire successively after 2026, there is a possibility that KORYAK FSU will emerge as a new supply base.

2025年7月30日、ロシア・カムチャッカ半島沖でマグニチュード8.8の巨大地震が発生し、太平洋沿岸には津波警報が発令された。震源に近い極東ロシアのベチェヴィンスカヤ湾には、ロシアの独立系ガス大手ノバテクが建造した浮体式LNG貯蔵設備「KORYAK（コリャク） FSU」（IMO 9915105）が係留されている。（続きは本文でお読みください）

この記事のポイント

→地震後、KORYAK FSU のAIS（自動船舶識別装置）信号や位置情報に異常は確認されず、現時点で構造的な被害も報告されていない。Maritime Bridge JapanはNOVATEKのIR部門への電話取材を試みたが、現地との通信は依然つながっていない。
