NYK announced on 9 that its offshore floating data centre concept, which it is jointly examining with NTT Facilities, Eurus Energy Holdings, MUFG Bank and the City of Yokohama, has received the Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications Award at the Japan Open Innovation Awards.

　日本郵船は9日、同社がNTTファシリティーズ、ユーラスエナジーホールディングス、三菱UFJ銀行、横浜市と共同で検討を進めている洋上浮体型データセンター構想が、「日本オープンイノベーション大賞 総務大臣賞」を受賞したと発表した。

この記事のポイント

→データセンター需要が急増する一方、電力消費の拡大や脱炭素対応、建設用地不足といった課題が顕在化するなか、再生可能エネルギー100%で稼働する洋上データセンターという新たな選択肢を提示した点が高く評価された。
