Seven of the 12 clubs belonging to the International Group of P&I Clubs, which provide Protection and Indemnity insurance, had by March 2 decided to suspend War Risk Cover in the Persian Gulf, including the Strait of Hormuz, as well as in Iranian territorial waters and adjacent waters, and have notified maritime stakeholders accordingly.

The Japan Ship Owners’ Mutual Protection and Indemnity Association (Japan P&I Club) also announced on March 2 that, having received a notice of cancellation from its reinsurers, it will suspend war risk cover in the same waters as of 00:00 on March 6.

While the Japan P&I Club’s ocean-going P&I insurance, including the P&I War Risk Special Clause, remains in force, strictly speaking “losses occurring as of 24:00 on March 5, 2026 (based on Greenwich Mean Time inception), in Iran and Iranian territorial waters (including waters up to 12 nautical miles from the coast), as well as in the Persian Gulf and adjacent waters (including the waters west of a line drawn from the outer limit of Omani territorial waters off Al Hadd at latitude 22 degrees 42.5 minutes north and longitude 59 degrees 54.5 minutes east, extending north-east to the Iran–Pakistan border at latitude 25 degrees 10.5 minutes north and longitude 61 degrees 37.5 minutes east)” will be excluded from insurance cover.

ジャパンP&Iクラブの外航P&I保険（P&I戦争危険特別条項を含む）はこれまで通り有効だが、厳密には「2026年3月5日24時（グリニッジ標準時発効ベースでイラン・イラン領海（沿岸から12海里までの海域を含む）およびペルシャ湾・隣接海域（オマーン湾およびアルハッド岬沖のオマーン領海限界線（北緯22度42.5分、東経59度54.5分）から北東方向にイラン・パキスタン国境（北緯25度10.5分、東経61度37.5分）に至る線以西の水域が含まれる）で生じた損害）」が保険免責の対象となる。
