Norwegian and US companies jointly develop and commercialise GPS spoofing protection device; webinar held to mark the launch

Norway’s Tschudi Shipping Company, NAL Research of the United States, and SGM Technology AS of Norway announced on 30 October the start of commercial deployment of PntGuard, a maritime device designed to counter GNSS spoofing and jamming.

Key Points of the Article

→ As the reliability of GNSS signals increasingly comes into question, PntGuard offers an independently operated navigation support system that instantly alerts operators when a vessel’s position is falsified, and can still provide authentic positional data even if other systems are compromised.

→ In a shipping industry facing growing electronic-warfare risks, the system is attracting attention as a new layer of defence supporting both safe navigation and regulatory compliance. 　ノルウェーのトルーディ・シッピング・カンパニー（Tschudi Shipping Company）、米国NALリサーチ（NAL Research）、ノルウェーSGMテクノロジー（SGM Technology AS）の3社は10月30日、海上におけるGNSSスプーフィングおよびジャミング対策装置「PntGuard（ポイントガード）」の商業提供を開始した。

→GNSS信号の信頼性が揺らぐなか、独立稼働型の航法支援装置として、船舶の位置が改ざんされた瞬間に警告を発し、他システムが損なわれても真の位置情報を提示できるのが特長だ。
