UECC and Manta Marine Technologies Expand FuelOpt Deployment — A Joint Venture of NYK and Wallenius

On 6 June, United European Car Carriers (UECC), a leading Norwegian shortsea RORO operator, announced at Nor-Shipping in Norway that it has agreed to equip a further six of its vessels with FuelOpt, the fuel optimisation system developed by Manta Marine Technologies (MMT). Through the implementation of FuelOpt, UECC aims to significantly reduce fuel costs and lessen its environmental impact.

UECC is a 50:50 joint venture between Japan’s Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) and Sweden’s Wallenius Lines. The company operates advanced PCTCs (Pure Car and Truck Carriers) across intra-European vehicle transport routes. Just two days earlier, on 4 June, UECC had announced the addition of LNG dual-fuel vessels to further support the decarbonisation of European logistics.

The latest agreement between UECC and Manta Marine Technologies, both key players in the European automotive logistics market, is expected to leverage NYK’s global experience and Wallenius Lines’ expertise in PCTC operations.

　欧州域内の短距離海上輸送（ショートシー／RORO）のノルウェー海運大手のユーロピアン・カー・キャリアーズ（UECC）は６月６日、ノルウェーで開催中の国際海事展ノルシッピングの場で、マンタ・マリン・テクノロジーズ（MMT）の燃料最適化システムFuelOptをさらに6隻の自社船舶に搭載することで合意した。UECCはFuelOptを導入することで、燃料費を大幅に削減し、環境負荷の低減を目指す。

　UECCは日本の日本郵船（NYK）とスウェーデンのWallenius Linesによる50:50の合弁企業であり、欧州域内の完成車輸送で先進的なPCTCを運航している。UECCは６月４日にもLNG二元燃料船追加で欧州物流の脱炭素化推進することを発表したばかりだ。
