Field reporting conducted by Maritime Bridge Japan in Singapore indicates that, amid growing uncertainty surrounding the situation in the Middle East, shipping companies, shipowners, brokers, traders and finance-related firms are beginning to diversify part of their operational functions previously based around Dubai toward Singapore.

Singapore is a city-state with a population of around six million and a land area of approximately 733 square kilometres, only slightly larger than Tokyo’s 23 wards. However, the country has developed a highly concentrated cluster of shipping, logistics, oil trading and financial functions, allowing it to operate as a critical infrastructure hub for international shipping.
