Petrofin Research is one of the most influential research organisations in the Greek maritime and shipping finance sectors. Theodore Petropoulos, founder and head of the organisation, has spent more than 35 years analysing the activities of Greek shipowners and banks and reporting both on Greek and Global ship finance.

In recent years, Greek banks’ expansion in shipping finance and Greek shipowners’ aggressive newbuilding investments have attracted global attention. Maritime Bridge Japan spoke with Mr Petropoulos about the differences between Japanese and Greek ship finance models and the direction Japanese shipowners may need to consider in the future. 　ペトロフィン・リサーチは、ギリシャの海運業界および船舶金融分野で最も影響力のある調査機関の一つだ。創設者で代表のセオドア・ペトロプロス氏は35年以上にわたり、ギリシャ船主や金融機関の動向を分析し、ギリシャおよび世界の海運金融市場を調査してきた。

　近年はギリシャ銀行による海運融資の拡大や、ギリシャ船主による積極的な新造船投資が世界的な注目を集めている。Maritime Bridge Japanは、日本とギリシャの船舶金融モデルの違いや、日本船主が今後検討すべき方向性についてペトロプロス氏に聞いた。（聞き手　山本裕史）
