　The European Union (EU) imported a record 12.18 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Russia’s Arctic Yamal LNG project in the first nine months of 2026, even as the bloc continued efforts to reduce its dependence on Russian energy. The estimated value of the imports reached €7.88bn.

　Following the suspension of gas supplies through the Nord Stream pipelines, Europe has increased purchases of US LNG and expanded its use of floating storage and regasification units (FSRUs).
