Six firms win AiP for 42,000m³ LCO2 ship, MILES first result 6社、42,000m³級LCO2船でAiP、MILES標準設計で初の成果

Stable supply and more efficient construction for domestic CCS projects; focus shifts to vessel adoption and newbuilding orders
国内CCS向け安定供給と建造効率化へ、次の焦点は実船採用・発注
K Line, MOL and NYK, together with Nihon Shipyard Co., Ltd., Mitsubishi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. and MILES Co., Ltd., said on September 15 that they had received Approval in Principle (AiP) from ClassNK for a jointly developed 42,000m³-class low-pressure liquefied CO2 (LCO2) carrier.
The approval marks the first concrete result from the “standard design scheme” using MILES to standardise the basic design of LCO2 carriers and other vessels.

→ 42,000m³-class LCO2 carrier marks first concrete result from MILES standard design scheme
→ Operating expertise of K Line, MOL and NYK in low-temperature liquefied gas carriers reflected in the design
→ HAZID assesses risks specific to low-pressure LCO2, with a focus on safety in the design
→ K Line also involved in operations of LCO2 carriers for Northern Lights
→ From AiP to an actual vessel: adoption of the 42,000m³-class standard design in CCS projects is the next focus
