　Some of the LNG carriers within QatarEnergy’s current operating fleet of about 70 vessels have reportedly been chartered out to third parties under short-term contracts of 30 to 90 days.

　A Japanese shipping industry source, speaking to Maritime Bridge Japan by July 28, said QatarEnergy’s move suggested that “as several market participants, including Wood Mackenzie, have pointed out, the company appears to be prioritising utilisation of the fleet used in its operations rather than waiting for freight markets to recover,” according to an executive involved in the LNG carrier sector.
