　Asahi Tanker Co., Ltd. announced on 14 October that a large-scale demonstration project integrating seaweed cultivation and blue carbon creation in the waters of Tokushima Prefecture, undertaken jointly with Bywill Inc., a company supporting the creation of environmental value, had been selected for a subsidy programme run by Japan’s Ministry of the Environment.

　The project aims to establish sustainable cultivation techniques capable of adapting to changes in the marine environment by comparing the growth of conventional wakame seaweed varieties with that of heat-tolerant strains.

　旭タンカーは14日、環境価値創出を支援するバイウィルと共同で、徳島県海域における海藻養殖とブルーカーボン創出を一体化した大規模実証事業が、環境省の補助事業に採択されたと発表した。

　従来のワカメ品種と高水温耐性株の生育状況を比較し、海洋環境の変化に対応した持続可能な養殖技術の確立を目指す。
