Qatar, one of the world’s largest LNG exporters, is expanding its long-term purchases of US liquefied natural gas. State-owned QatarEnergy signed agreements on 22 October to purchase up to 4mn tonnes a year from US-based Cheniere Energy and is in talks with Venture Global to acquire at least another 3mn tonnes annually.
