MOL hosts open day aboard ‘CELESTE ACE’ for Marine Day – Children amazed by live loading demo

商船三井、海の日イベントで「CELESTE ACE」見学会、子どもたちも驚き　積付け作業を実演

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL), CEO Takeshi Hashimoto, held a ship tour on 21 July as part of the 2025 Marine Day commemorative events. The vessel was the CELESTE ACE, a Panama-flagged car carrier capable of transporting 7,000 vehicles, built in September 2024 by Shin Kurushima Dockyard. On the day, 600 people—mainly families who had won tickets in a draw with a twelve-to-one odds—came aboard the CELESTE ACE. Key highlights from the event:

→ Japanese captain Tetsuo Fukumitsu, who greeted members of the public on the bridge, remarked: “This is my second time participating in such an event, and I truly hope it helps people feel closer to the work we do at sea.”

→ Norio Abe, Managing Executive Officer, who led the tour for members of the press, shared his views on the event’s significance: “This location—Tokyo International Cruise Terminal—is effectively a lifeline leading into Tokyo Bay. By having members of the public visit in person and experience the actual site where goods are shipped from Japan to the world, they can better understand the essential role maritime transport plays.”

　商船三井（橋本剛CEO・Takeshi Hashimoto）は7月21日、「海の日記念行事2025」の一環として、7,000台積み自動車専用船「CELESTE ACE」（パナマ船籍、2024年9月に新来島どっくで竣工）の見学会を実施した。当日は、抽選倍率12倍で当選した600人の家族連れを中心に「CELESTE ACE」に乗船。船内では、　（続きは本文でお読みください）

→船橋で一般訪問客を出迎えた日本人船長の福満哲雄（Capt. Tetsuo Fukumitsu）は、「今回で私は2回目の経験となるが、こうしたイベントを通じて海の仕事を身近に知ってもらえたらうれしい」と話した。

→報道関係者の案内の先頭に立った常務執行役員の安部規雄（Norio Abe）氏は、今回のイベントの意義について「この場所（東京国際クルーズターミナル）は東京湾に続く日本の生命線でもある。一般の方に実際に足を運んでいただき、日本から世界にモノを運んでいる現場を実感してもらい、海運の役割を感じてもらえることが一番の意義だ」と語った。
