MOL announced on the 22nd that it has signed a memorandum of understanding on the basic terms of a contract to time-charter two ammonia carriers, VLGCs (very large gas carriers), for JERA.

　商船三井は22日、JERA向けにアンモニア輸送船VLGC（大型LPG船）2隻を定期用船する契約について、基本条件合意書を締結したと発表した。

この記事のポイント

→今回の契約は、米国ルイジアナ州で製造される低炭素アンモニアを日本へ輸送するため、VLGC2隻体制で商用規模の輸送網を構築する点が最大の特徴となる。

→日本向けの燃料アンモニアを対象とした本格的な商用海上輸送は初めてで、構想段階にあったアンモニアのバリューチェーンが実装段階へ移行する。
