Return to crude imports could boost tanker demand as Durban plans new SBM

 Maritime Bridge Japan has examined South African government and parliamentary documents as well as energy-related materials and found that the country is pursuing a major plan to rebuild its domestic oil refining capacity.

 If the plan materialises, South Africa’s energy logistics could shift back towards crude oil imports after becoming increasingly dependent on imported petroleum products.
