　As Saudi Arabia’s East-West Pipeline resumes operations and moves are under way to restart crude exports from Yanbu on the Red Sea, major Japanese shipping companies are taking a cautious approach to VLCC deployment.

　In a telephone interview conducted by Maritime Bridge Japan by September 23, a senior executive at a major Japanese shipping company said: “We need to assess whether crude can continue to be shipped steadily from Yanbu.” The executive said the company would consider deploying VLCCs and other tankers once Japanese oil companies purchase Yanbu-loading crude and make specific shipping requests.

　サウジアラビアの東西パイプラインが再稼働し、紅海側のヤンブーから原油輸出を再開する動きが出る中、日本の海運大手はVLCC（大型原油タンカー）の配船を慎重に見極めている。

　Maritime Bridge Japanが9月23日までに日本の海運大手幹部に電話取材したところ、同幹部は「ヤンブーから原油が継続的に安定出荷されるのか見極める必要がある」と指摘した。日本の石油会社がヤンブー積み原油を購入し、具体的な輸送要請が出た段階でVLCCなどの配船を検討する考えを示した。
